Implementation

The Agent Interoperability Protocol (AIP) provides a full-stack framework for building secure, scalable, and decentralized multi-agent systems.

1. Protocol Support and Extension

MCP Protocol Extension AIP extends the foundational Model Context Protocol (MCP) for broader interoperability:

  • SSE Protocol Enables remote connectivity with MCP tools over networks, supporting real-time event streaming and asynchronous messaging.

  • gRPC Integration Introduces high-performance, bidirectional streaming for agents/tools unable to connect via SSE.

  • Authorization Mechanisms Adds blockchain-based secure authentication and permission control for agent-tool interactions.

  • Dynamic Function Loading Supports adaptive tool integration during active sessions without interrupting workflows.

2. Membase Mechanism

Unified Agent & Tool Registry The Membase Hub acts as a decentralized discovery service for agents and tools.

  • Decentralized Metadata Storage Persistently stores agent/tool information (e.g., capabilities, endpoints) across the network.

  • Memory Persistence Retains conversation history and task states, enabling seamless agent migration and recovery.

  • Scalable Architecture Supports horizontal scaling to accommodate thousands of agents and tools in distributed deployments.

3. Authorization and Privacy Solutions

Blockchain-Based Identity Management Each agent and tool is assigned a verifiable cryptographic identity recorded on-chain.

  • Smart Contract Authorization Enforces programmable access controls and operational policies transparently.

  • Application-Level Access Control Supports flexible Role-Based (RBAC) and Attribute-Based (ABAC) permission models.

  • Privacy-Preserving Mechanisms Incorporates encryption, data anonymization, and federated learning for secure collaboration.

  • Consent Management Allows users to define and manage fine-grained permissions for data usage and tool access.

🎯 Summary

  • Interoperability: Seamlessly connects agents and tools via MCP + gRPC across platforms.

  • Resilience: Membase Hub ensures persistent identity, memory, and seamless agent migration.

  • Trust and Compliance: Blockchain and programmable smart contracts guarantee security, transparency, and user privacy by design.
